This MPPT charger/light controller kit from Tronixlabs Australia will work with 12V or 24V solar panels to charge a 12V or 24V lead-acid or lithium iron phosphate battery.
You can then use the battery to run 12V DC lighting or a 12V/24V to 230VAC inverter to run lighting or other loads.
Once assembled, this unit gives you the option of running a 12V solar panel up to 120W or a 24V panel up to 220W.
It can switch lights on at dusk and turn them off again at sunrise. By including a PIR (Passive Infra Red) detector, you can also have lights switch on or off.
Kit originally described in the February 2016 issue of Silicon Chip magazine. Full instructions are included with the kit.
