Capture and monitor data from your project using Microsoft Azure Cloud Services

By now a lot of people are interested in remotely monitoring data that their project can generate. This includes weather data, project status - such as monitoring I/O pins, or pretty much anything you can create with hardware. And we know a lot of you are quite proficient with hardware and coding - however could use a hand with the final step, which is using a service to store, display and analyse the data. 

One solution for this is Microsoft Azure - " ... an ever-expanding set of cloud services to help your organization meet your business challenges. It’s the freedom to build, manage, and deploy applications on a massive, global network using your favorite tools and frameworks"

As part of Azure, there is an IoT Device Hub which you can harness with hardware and environments you are already familiar with. Such as Arduino, ESP8266 and so on. 

And to get you started in this world of powerful Internet-connected devices, we offer the SparkFun Microsoft Azure IoT Starter Kit. This includes a SparkfFun ESP8266 WiFi-enabled microcontroller board, some sensors and enough hardware to get you started. You don't need to do any soldering, so you can do it from your desk at the office or at home:

However you will need access to the Internet via WiFi. Getting started is not difficult at all - SparkFun and Microsoft have created a detailed and useful tutorial system to get you started with this kit and Azure services. 

Furthermore you can get US$200 of free Azure services from Microsoft - and they have free plans as well, so simple projects may not have any cloud services costs at all.
